The Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is searching for qualified applicants who intend to pursue a Ph.D. degree in the areas of environmental microbiology and biotechnology. Students with strong motivation to conduct research on topics, including assessment and biodegradation of emerging contaminants, environmental microbial processes, water/wastewater treatment, biocorrosion prevention are highly encouraged to apply. Ideal applicants should possess solid academic background and hands-on laboratory experience on microbial cultivation and characterization, biomolecular techniques, and analytical instrumentation. Applicants with MS degrees in Microbiology, Biology and Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering and other relevant disciplines will be preferred. Excellent English communication and written skills are also desirable.
The student will be admitted to the NJIT Environmental Science Ph.D. program starting in the summer or fall semester of 2016, and will receive tuition support, and competitive monthly stipend and benefits.
